57 acre county park located within Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge. Variety of birds and habitat. Lighted piers, boat ramp, restrooms, and showers. RV & camping sites.
Mission TX - (956) 585-5311. Open daily until dark. Admission fee on weekends.
Directions: From US 83 follow FM 1016 south about 5 miles, then right on FM 494 (look for
sign to park).
Small, popular county park for birding, boating, picnicking. Clay-colored robin, tropical parula, altamira oriole, rose-throated becard, hook-billed kite. In short, EXCELLENT birding.

Directions: 3 miles west on US 83, exit Loop 374, then 3 miles south on FM 2062 to park
entrance.
600 acre state park. Nature & hiking trails. Fishing, boat ramp, picnicking, playground, campsites. Resident birds include least grebe, common gallinule, common, ground, white-fronted doves, greater roadrunner, green jay, and lots more.

Directions: 10 miles northwest on US 83 to FM 2098 then 4 miles south.
Falcon Dam nearly five miles long, averages 100 feet high. Numerous private and public facilities, including Falcon State Recreation Park (575 acres). Often seen birds in area include brown jays, black-headed orioles, ringed kingfishers, virdens, green-tailed towhees.

except federal holidays; Visitor Center open 10 AM - 4 PM. October thru April; Admission
$2.00 per vehicle.
Directions: 18 miles east on FM 106, then left (North) for 3 miles to the Refuge Center.
46,000 acre acre wildlife sanctuary at southern end of Central Flyway, includes 7,000 acres of marshland and salt- and fresh-water. Thousands of waterfowl winter here. Resident species include many kinds of gulls, least grebe, Harris hawk, kiskadee flycatcher and painted bunting. Foot and driving roads are open to the public year round. Visitor Center features wildlife exhibits, bird and animal lists; picnic area.

Directions: From International Boulevard go 5.7 miles southeast on FM 2429 (Southmost
Road) then follow sign.
527 acre wildlife sanctuary is the largest and best preserved of the Sabal Palm forest in the U.S. Owned and operated since 1971 by the National Audubon Society. See Warblers and Buff-bellied Hummingbirds.

not operating; Walking trails open to the public sunrise to sunset daily; Visitor Center
open from 8 AM - 4:30 PM; Admission $3.00 per vehicle.

2,000 acres of subtropical forest, famous for birds of Mexican origin. Home to many animals native to South Texas. Over 380 species of birds have been spotted, including least grebes, green kingfishers, ringed kingfishers, olivacious cormorant, gray hawk, hook-billed kite, black-bellied tree duck, olive sparrow, and on and on...
